The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office shall provide social protection and promote the rights and welfare of the poor, vulnerable and disadvantaged individuals, families and communities to contribute to the poverty alleviation an empowerment through social welfare and development policies, developed appropriate programs, projects and services implementation in coordination with GO’s, NGO’s and the private sectors.

Background
Functional Statement
- Establish baseline data of different sectoral groups to identify the marginalized/indigent members of the impoverished sector in need of assistance.
- Provide assistance to the marginalized sector of the municipality such as: Children, Youth, Women, Solo Parents, Senior Citizens, Differently-abled Persons, Sexually Abused Women and Children and victims of drug addiction and victims of man-made and natural disaster/calamities.
- Establish partnership/coordinate with different NGAs, PLGU, NGOs, academe to augment the limited resources of the municipality to respond to the need of the marginalized sector of the municipality.
- Facilitate organization/formation of different sectoral groups to empower them and participate in the development of their sector.
- Facilitate in making the local special bodies functional especially the Council for the Protection of Women and Children both at the municipal and barangay levels.
Objectives
- To conduct profiling of different sectoral groups to identify the marginalized/indigent members of the impoverished sector in need of assistance.
- To enhance staff complement assisting the marginalized sector of the municipality such as: Children, Youth, Women, Solo Parents, Senior Citizens, Differently-abled Persons, Sexually Abused Women and Children and victims of drug addiction and victims of man-made and natural disasters and calamities.
- To improve/establish partnership and coordination with different NGAs, PLGU, NGOs, academe to augment the limited resources of the municipality to respond to the need of the marginalized sector of the municipality.
- To organize/strengthen different formation of sectoral groups to empower them and participate in the development of their sector and be accredited in the Sangguniang Bayan to access funds from the Gender and Development Fund of the muncipality.
- To assist in making the local special bodies functional especially the Council for the Protection of Women and Children both at the municipal and barangay levels.
