The  Municipal Government of Midsayap is continuing to live up to its mission to initiate people’s participation in promoting programs, projects and activities in making its citizens morally upright and God-centered.  With the culmination of the Youth Leadership Summit conducted on May 29-31, 2018 at Salunayan Elementary School, nearly 200 empowered young people gladly ended their activity with gratitude and fulfillment.

The activity was initiated by the 34th Infantry (RELIABLE) Battalion, 8th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army based in Salunayan in coordination with the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Midsayap. The said activity is line with the Armed Forces of the Philippine’s (AFP) Development Support and Society Plan (DSSP) “KAPAYAPAAN”.

The objective of the activity is to develop the leadership potential and service orientation of the youth and mold them to become responsible citizens and catalysts of peace and development. It also aims to promote harmonious relationship between Muslims, Christians and the members of the indigenous tribes in different communities.

The event was attended by various youth leaders and students representing their respective communities and affiliations. In the course of the three-day summit, the youth were engaged in group activities, team buildings, seminars and self-awareness trainings to obtain a holistic approach on their learnings and development.

The speakers of the event were representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines, the Philippine National Police and the Local Government Unit of Midsayap.  The participants were taught with the roles of the youth to the Family, Community and the Environment as well as dialogues on the true meaning of Islam and Christianity. Other objectives of the Summit includes development in Leadership and Interpersonal Skills and giving value to the Culture and essence of Patriotism. The participants were also oriented on Gender and Development to strengthen their values formation as leaders and as a member of the society.

The event was also graced by Honorable Mayor Romeo D. Araña who gave inspirational message to the participants. The Mayor also led the oath taking of the newly elected Youth Leadership Officers for 2018. The elected officers were Adzimi A. Paguital, President; Kristine Liva, Vice President; Jeanny Baluntong, Secretary; Angelica Rabara, Treasurer; Ricalyn Taporco, Auditor; Marnel Baron and Guinzon Hasan, Sgt/Arms; Claribel Peralta, Muse; and Jemmar Usop, Escort.

Certificates were also awarded to the participants by Mayor Romeo D. Araña accompanied by Captain Kaharudin K. Cadil (INF) PA, CMO Officer and Major Dwight L. Libongcugon Jr (INF) PA, Executive Officer, 34 IB.
